Volunteers for Shed Roster Needed

In Gear by James Gavshon31 Comments

We need shed roster volunteers

Due to several members moving east/north/home we are in need of more volunteers to help fill out the roster for manning the shed for the coming year. This is not a particularly difficult role and doesn't require a lot of time commitment. It is however, essential to allow us to continue to provide gear rental to our members. If you are looking for an easy way to help out with the club and are able to get to the shed located at Shenton Park on a sporadic basis then this is your opportunity.

FAQ

What will I need to do?

Be available to open the shed (if required) on your rostered days. Assist members with collecting and returning equipment, recording details of rentals, checking equipment as it is returned.

When will I need to be there?

We operate the shed on an "as required" basis so even if you are rostered on, you only need to open the shed if someone contacts you before hand. To put this in perspective, the shed is opened approximately 2/3 of the scheduled days in summer and less than 1/3 of the times in winter. Opening times are generally 6.30pm to 7pm, if you have to open earlier/later, please put a post up on facebook and let any interested persons know when they enquire.

How often will I be rostered on?

This largely depends on how many volunteers we get. We are aiming to have between 10 and 12 people on a rotating roster, which will equate to 1 night every four weeks.

What if I'm not available for my roster day?

We understand that things come up, if you can't make your rostered day then please try and organise to swap shifts with another volunteer. The earlier you let us know that you can't make it the easier it is to get a back up.

This sounds too hard...

This is probably the EASIEST and least time consuming way to help out around the club but can be the difference between someone making a dive or missing out for a weekend. The club relies on volunteers to keep this party rocking and the more people that pitch in, the easier the workload.

*&%@ YEAH SIGN ME UP!

That's the spirit, drop the Roster Coordinator an email and let him know you want in. Details are available on the Roster List alternatively hit the contact us page and send through an enquiry.

Thank you for taking the time to help out!
James

  29. Hi there,

I recently joined the club. I was the “gear officer” of the UNSW dive club in Sydney for several years, and I’d be happy to put my name down for a few days. Let me know…

    Cheers,

    Martin

    1. Hi Martin,
